Hi folks ! I'm using an IBM laptop and just got an external box for HDD and it connects to the laptop by USB port. My USB is USB 2.0. When plugging the device in, there's an error popped up, saying that a HIGH-SPEED device attached to a non-HIGH-SPEED USB port and it advised me to install a HIGH-SPEED USB host controller, and using the Mass Storage Device could reduce the speed. This thing has happened before when i used the external CD-RW connected to the laptop also by USB port. I searched on NET tried to find the driver but no result. Could anyone tell me why does it happen ? Is there any USB port >2.0 (hardware) which is high-spped or I just need a driver (software) to get my current USB port work ?

Install the latest chipset driver for your mainboard and update XP's service pack.

The warning message is telling you that a non-USB2 connection was discovered. In most cases you cannot upgrade the USB port. With most older laptops you should be able to get a PCard (PCMCIA) to USB2 adapter with the appropriate drivers. Your adapter slot should be a CardBus 32-bit.
