Hi, Needing some advice and opinion from the experts. I would like to get a new laptop. But I cannot decide on which one's better for video capturing, editing, encoding, and anything related to multimedia.

Choosing between these two:

Laptop A - has bigger HD capacity (320gb)

While Laptop B has higher or speedier processor (?) http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid...

Which model do you think would best suit me (for the purpoes I stated above). Sorry I am a bit oudated as far as laptop technology is concerned.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

I'd go with the speeder one. You can always add another Hard Drive latter. If you can go to there store, then ask them about the expansion for another HD. The faster the better with VISTA.

Thank you for your response, Robert. So you'd go with the speeder one. I think it's a good choice. But I'm not sure if it'd be easier for me to get an HD expansion later on. Will just ask around. Really appreciate you input:)

Go for the dv6871us, here's why:

The dv6871us uses NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS graphics with "Up to 1535 MB (256MB dedicated)".

dv6871us - Product Specifications

The dv6928us uses Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 with "Up to 358MB"

dv6928us - Product Specifications

The 8400M GS is a Class 3 card (1 being best, 5 being worst)...it ranks 72 out of 129 cards tested. It has 256MB dedicated RAM.

"One advantage of the GeForce 8000 series is the integrated PureVideo video processor. It can support the CPU in decoding H.264, VC-1, MPEG2, and WMV9 encoded videos in HD quality"

GeForce 8400M GS

The Intel GMA X3100 is a Class 4 card...it ranks 101 out of 129 cards tested. It uses 100% shared memory.

The speed difference between the 2 CPUs is minor...ony 166MHz. Laptops rarely run the CPU at full speed anyway. Considering what you wanna use it for, I suggest you go for the laptop with the better graphics.

Thank you so much,Jam. Yeah, I noticed the difference in graphics, but just wasn't sure which one would be best suited for my use.

That's what I wanted to know. If the speed difference isn't going to be noticeable, then I'd really go for the bigger HD. Thank you for provideing me with that information. Now I think I'll give 6871 a go.

You're a lifesaver:)
