High Pitch Noise when power is off

I have recently noticed a high pitch noise coming from my 5yr old Comtec ATX 300 watt power supply once I turn the PC off. The sound continues for minutes unless I unplug the power cord. I sometimes notice the same sound when the computer is running. I used a can of air and a ton of dust came out of the power supply. Any suggestions?
If it is my power supply going out, what is the most reliable brand to replace it with?

It sounds like your PSU is living it's last days... :(
Get a replacement before it dies, coz when it will do that it might take along some other components.
Antec it's a good PSU brand in my opinion.
GooD LucK!
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...

My money would be on a capacitor(s) going. When you uplug it from the mains you are allowing it to discharge, that is why the noise stops. Almost all whine type noises from a PSU point to a capacitor on it's way out, it is to do with it's cycling being faulty.
My advice is to change your PSU as soon as poss. The advice from ghimpe is right, if it goes when you are using it it could take a lot with it.
