high density ram for my GA-8PE800

I've got a gigabyte GA-8PE800 motherboard. Anyways it does this really lame thing where if your using double sided DDR ram you can only use 2 slots (out of the 3). I've got a 512 and a 256. So I want to replace the 256 with a 1024. Found a good deal online.. but it is high density. My motherboard says nothing on this subject and i'm trying to figure out if i can support high density ram. The manual says I can have a max of 2gb's of ram. That didn't help me much though.
