Hi
I have a "hidden partition" OEM install of Win ME. If I replace my motherboard and cpu wiil this OS installation refuse to load? - Some folk say that Windows will detect this as an attempt to load onto an unlicensed unit and refuse to boot. ??

Unless you get the exact same motherboard your system will not run not because of windows and its activation policy but because when windows was installed drivers were loaded and installed for the motherboard chipset and cpu that you currently have. Installing a new mobo and cpu will most likley mean a new install of windows simply from a driver point of view and nothing to do with activation.
If you are going to the length of a new mobo and cpu i would recommend you also consider formating your hard drive and installing xp insted of me
