Help with monitor! Wrong colours

I was on the computer this morning and turned the monitor off, leaving the PC on, while i went away for about 20mins to do something. When I got back and turned the monitor on, the screen was pink - completely. I've tried unplugging and replugging in the VGA cable but no change. Im guessing the green colour has gone (because anything that would be green is not seen) but this is a bit odd. WHat could be the problem?

The Green electron gun is not shooting out green electrons any more.
Nothing odd, a fairly common problem. First thing I would check though is the cable. Try wiggling the cable near its connector. If the colours change then that is you problem. Otherwise a new monitor is in order. A repair would probably cost more than the monitors worth.

Hi Alex2002: Have you tried the monitor on a different PC, that will tell you if the problem is with monitor or on your PC. If it's the monitor (not LCD type) it could be a bad picture tube where one of the color guns has gone bad, picture tubes & projector type TVs use 3 primary colors guns to make all colors. You should still see a picture just showing combinations of the 2 working color guns.
Hope this helps, good luck. Z

Try wiggling the cable. A long shot is the video card.
