hey everyone. i could really use some help picking the right video card to buy please. Basically my biggest problem right now is the size. Right now I have a geforce 8400gs that barely fits.

Thats 2 pictures so you guys can see exactly what im talking about. Above the card i have a heatsink. and at the end is the ram. the end of the card is so close to the bracket that holds the ram in place that i dont think i can get anything longer than the 8400gs i have now. from what i understand the slot my vid card is in right now is the only pci express slot that will take a newer card so all those free slots below it are out. a friend recomended the hd 4550. i just bought a 24inch HD monitor so thats why i want a new card in the first place. i also do a little gaming and basically want a card that could run a game like crysis at medium settings without any problems. the hd 4550 has the hdmi out but ive read that its not really for gaming and if theres anything else that would fit that performs better i would hate to settle on the 4550. i really dont want to order something and then have it not fit. any help would be really appreciated. thanks a ton guys.

You might want to look at this card. It's a Low Profile card and is smaller than the regular version. It should meet your requirements.

I don't believe low profile is the issue...I think the issue is the length of the card?

It's somewhat common for the back of the card to be very close to clips on the RAM slots. I wouldn't worry about it.

The HD 4550 is not a good gaming card though. The HD 4650 is better, but only if you get the 128-bit version with DDR3/GDDR3 memory...the ones with DDR2/GDDR2 are much slower. Your best bet would be an HD 4670. I have no doubt this one will fit:
