I need some help..
I accidently ordered a Abit NF7 v 2.0 motherboard without the SATA.. and I also ordered a SATA 200GB harddrive.
My question is: How can I make my mobo recognize SATA hd's when I use a converter (SATA hd -> IDEslot1)? I've tried without success.. even updated my BIOS.

The only way to get the MOB to recognize a SATA drive is to purchase a SATA card. IDE and SATA are totally different.

I'm using a sata converter for IDE hd's (maybe it doesn't work the other way around like I'm trying to).. It's just a little black box with a sata output that you can plug into a IDE harddrive.

What you need is a converter like this: http://www.provantage.com/buy-22090759-addonics-sata-ide-atapi-converter-shopping.htm
Personaly, I would follow the advise of zorki1c and get a PCI SATA card for about the same price. Then you could take full advantage of the SATA drive.
