This is a very odd problem. Ok i bought an old p133 mobo , cpu and memory on ebay, AT form factor, put it in this old AT case i have, anyway i put it in and get everything hoooked up and then its odd, if i dont have the cdrom or hdd hooked up , it boots up and lets me use the keyboard (using a ps/2 keybaord with an AT adapter) but when i hook the hdd hooked up, it boots up but the keyboard doesnt work, says keyboard failure
I am totally baffled any help woudl be appreciated

Well i got it to boot up as 133mhz but still wont boot up with a hdd hooked up, evertyhign cable wise is correct, tried to use cs and master settings , no luck

Well hte only time i can even get it to post is if i have the hdd unplugged adn teh cdrom unplugged from the motherboard. so it wotn see it natually due to it being unplugged, it sees the keyboard and waht not. but im still stumped

Well letting it go without anything hooked up but a floppy drive, ti says floppy error (40), which i dont understand cuz my floppy drive i belive is hooked up right, , can a floppy drive that is not hooked up right be ther eason fro all of this

Yes, it is possible. May not be your problem but a bad floppy has killed more than one system.
I think you have a secondary ide controller on that board. Try plugging your hdd and cd-rom into it and leave the primary channel free. You'll have to change the hard drive parameters over in bios. Also, let us know exact model of your hard drive.

Well the hard drive i was trying is a 6gb Seagate. nto sure of the model, the otehr was a 4.3gb Tri Gem hd (both were free gifts from friends). and the floppy issue is no go, i tried that unplugging it. so no luck their (tho floppy drive is probably bad) anyway ill try putting them both on the 2nd ide channel , or the first or vice versa and ill get back to you, im going to bed, been wrokign a while on it, will continue tom
Thanks
Nick

One last note. i unhooked power from the cdrom drive and put the hdd back on master and well it seemd to work. ill try more tom then ill let you know my status
thanks
Nick

Well i can get it to post and boot up when both are on one ide channnel (primary and slave) the jumpers are correct and cables are hooked up correctly. however still no luck, the keyboard works, but now its not deteching the hdd, and it keeps saying floppy fail (40)

Well ive tried a few other things, like diff ide cables, it can now boot with the hd plugged in, but the keyboard dont work and when it posts it wont let me use the keyboard or it wont detect the hdd so im at a loss now, prob got a bad board hard to say, any help woudl be nice

i have the same board in one of my systems. it seems pretty flaky. anyway, make sure the floppy drive is connected to the end of the cable, after the twist. if the cable doesn't have a twist, use one that does.you wouldn't happen to know where i could download a manual for this board, would you? gigabyte's website doesn't really support it, other than a couple bios updates (v3.33 consistently produces a "bios rom checksum error" with my board, be forewarned).
