Hey folks
I got a problem with my new comp that i built myself, the hardware is fine and is suited for my needs but its the software that is bugging me, here's the specsNEW RIG:
Athlon Xp2500+ OC'D @ 3200+
512 Twinmoss ddr400
120 gig Maxtor Dimondmax Sata
Asus a7n8x Deluxe V2.0
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro
Antec Lanboy caseOk now the most annoying poinnt is when i setup the OS it went through fine and i updated the whole system with all patches and fixes, but i first installed Norton internet security 2004 it went thru fine but when i ran the antivirus it would start then reboot, i thought it might be the nForce drivers and swiched to the nvidia 1's but with no luck also i tryed with the new Catalist drivers but with no luck.
all the software on the new setup is the most recent or most stable, also when the norton didnt work I tryed Norton internet security 2003 insted which i have running on my other system,
OLD RIG:
Athlon Xp2600+
Nanya 512 ddr2700
Asus A7v333
2X Maxtor Diamondmax 80 gig
Ledtek gf4 ti4200
Audigy + Livedrive
Win Xp Home- Sp1the
Norton internet security 2003 runns fine on the old setup but has the same rebooting problems as the 2004 edition on the new rig, and when it reboots and it goes to the desktop with the "recovered from a serious error" message.I don't know what 2 do, i do consider myself as an advanced pc user but this is just plain weird, the new rig is all updated and so is the antivirus programs, also some times the reboot problems occur then doing the defragment utility.
Iam not shure how to cure this but the only way i can think of right now is to do a complete reformat of the drive :-(
Also on the new setup i get a WEIRD problem with UT2004 which works fine on the old rig but wont even load with the new rig and jus makes the machine reboot:-(
If any1 can help with my new rig woes it would be greatly helpful.
Thanks guys

A few things to check/try...
1. What's the wattage of your PSU? Check the amperage on your power supply's +12v rail...you should have a minimum of 16A, preferrably more. If it's much lower than that, you may be overstressing the PSU.
2. Download memtest86 & test your RAM. It runs from a bottable floppy so be sure that your 1st boot device is set to "floppy" in the BIOS
3. Stress test your overclocked CPU. Download & run TOAST for a minimum of 20 min. Keep an eye on your temps while testing...don't be surprised if it goes beyond 60C. If your system doesn't lock up or reboot, you're OK. If it does lockup (or reboot), you'll have to try to determine the cause. Increasing the CPU voltage may cure the prob...unless the prob is caused by a weak or inadequate PSU. Remember, higher CPU voltage = higher CPU temps.

Hey guys
thanks jam
for your suggestions and i have carried out these tests but nothing has come of them, the memory test passed with flying colours and the psu rating was on the ball and the toast software did not give any probs to my system stability so if anybody can give anymore help i would be very thankful.

It is only rebooting when u hav Norton installed? Remove it then. I hate all Norton stuff, seems to cause more problems than it solves (for me)
Anyway if it is that then change to something like PC-Cillin. Its great even has a firewall and doesnt choke ur comp for resources like Nortan does..
