Comment: Alright so i have a dell inspiron 9100 laptop....every night before bed...I close the top of it and i guess that puts it into sleep mode....which is fine, when I wake up I open up top and about 60% of the time, the fan comes on, but it's not a normal fan sound...it's louder, and the computer runs slow as can be. Also the fan won't go off without me restarting....anybody know how to chnage this/why this won't go off thanks

Reply: (edit)further in response to your worthless waste of my time answer....why would it run for hours on end and never cool off the laptop...please think before giving an answer that is not worthwhile and wasting both of our keystrokes.

Reply: (edit)Lucky for you i dont hold a grudge lol. I do have a laptop and when i close the lid the computer runs as normal except that the screen switches off. The fan on the side never comes on when the lid is closed... i guess to keep the noise down. Have you checked the temps on your laptop? Can you describe the noise being made by your fan? does it sound like it is grinding on something? Mattwww.bbcomputing.co.uk matt@bbcomputing.co.uk

Reply: (edit)download speedfan it can monitor temps, fanspeeds, voltages etc. It is also freeware. Get it from here: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php This should tell you if the temps are high and whether the fan is going any faster than usual. If this yields no results i would suggest calling dell support. Mattwww.bbcomputing.co.uk matt@bbcomputing.co.uk
