Try response #1 first. If that doesn't do the trick you might have a screen fault (or its connecting cable) but we will need to try to diagnose it.

Press F2 key several time immediately after powering on and see if you can enter the system setup program (BIOS). I don't want you to do anything in there but only to find out if that menu screen is also displaced to the left. If you are unsure how to exit it afterwards just power off the computer. If it is the same there you have a hardware fault.

If the above menu looks OK then tap F8 key during start up and you should see a short menu (white letters on black background). Select "Safe Mode" and see if it is displaced there. If Windows starts, everything will look large and a little different, returning to normal when you restart.

Let us know what happens.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I usually have to look up that "tweak" as it's so easy to forget it...

Have now a wee note in a couple of places for future reference...

It often happens when one has had an external monitor running as well as the laptop's own; and apps etc. showing on the external display. Remove the external display and sometimes you end up with the effect you had (depending on how the laptop display and external display were configured together).
