Comment:

I just got the my computer parts and installed everything. When i booted up the computer, the cpu fan(and case fans) spins for 5 secs, then turns off, and then on again. It just repeats this cycle.

My motherboard's LED (asus p5b deluxe) cycles between blue and red also. I dont know whats wrong. No beeps or anything, cant access bios because nothing appears on my screen.

The weird thing is when i unplug the EATX12v Power Connector, the computer runs smooth and doesnt turn on and off , but it wont post either because the motherboard requires this connection.

Please help me on this one! Thanks in advance.

Here are my specs:
CPU-E6600, ASUS p5b deluxe, antec p180b case, antec coolermaster 550w PSU, corsair DDR2, GeForce 7900 GTO

I forgot to add one thing..

My PSU came with a voltage meter, it only reads to around 200 watts when the computer is running with the EATXv12 connector unplugged. But maybe thats because the components on the motherboard doesnt register because the EATXv12 is unplugged.

another update..

as suggested by an old post made from a guy in a different forum, i took out the cpu and then powered up the computer (with the eatxv12 plugged in). The computer stays on and doesnt cycle on and off so im guessing its not the PSU. Could it be a damaged ZIF socket?

Also, i found out my computer doesnt beep because there is no connection to the speaker input on the motherboard. I checked to see, but there was no speaker cable that came with the case. I only have Power LED I,Power LED II, Reset SW, and Pwr Sw. Any other way to get the beeps working?

Put the CPU back in and check that the heatsink is properly installed. It sounds like an overheating issue.
