Hey all
I have pretty much upgraded everytthing in my computer (new 400W PSU, 6800 GT, PC3200 Ram, etc)
Anyone Im now looking to replace me current MB/CPU. Mobo first..
Id rather buy from my local retailer that newegg or pricewatch (dont ask) but how are the following motherboards sold at Compusa? Im looking for a very high performance board with great stability.
865PE Neo2-LS ATX Motherboard, Socket 478 for Pentium 4 Processors
Manufacturer: MSI Computer Corporation
Mfg Part #: 6728-020
Product Number: 304376
Price: $149.99
-------------865PE ATX Motherboard, Socket PGA478 for Pentium 4 Processors
Manufacturer: Intel
Mfg Part #: BOXD865PERLL
Product Number: 304368
Price: $159.99
---------------
P4P800 ATX Motherboard, Socket 478 for Pentium 4 / Celeron ProcessorsManufacturer: ASUS
Mfg Part #: P4P800
Product Number: 305446
Price: $189.99----------------
Im looking to get a P4 3.4c in a few weeks as well. Which one of these 3 boards would be the best for what Im looking for? Performance and stability #1 in my mind.
Or do all these stink and I should buy something else?

For stability and longevity, go with Intel Motherboard with 865 or 875 chipset.
To overclock and void your warranty, check out Hard-OCP and Extremetech for current

Asus P4P800-E Deluxe retail has similar features as Intel's BOXD865PERLL. Intel board has more software bundled with the board. Is the 865PERLL is more stable and reliable than the Asus board?

Go Intel 865PERLL. I have the P4P800 and it's a very solid board, but the Intel is more stable.

Answer: Yes =)ASUS is still a good company but Intel takes all.
Hey gulbane, why don't you just get a prescott? A P4 3.2E prescott will outperform a P4 3.4C and the prescott is...CHEAPER! But that does require an 875 chipset usually.

The E is better? I know it has a 1MB L1 Cache compared to the C that has 1/2 that - but in several benchmarks I have seen the C performs better....no?
