Specs: Windows XP
I'm trying to decide which of these laptops to set up for my kids, and which one to keep for myself. Obviously, neither is a speed demon. Both will see general use, mostly just web stuff.

Gateway has an Intel Core Duo T2060, 1MB L2, 1.6GHz, 533FSB. 2GB RAM, Radeon X200M, 14.1" WXGA.

Compaq has a Sempron SI-42, 512K L2, 2.1GHz. 1.5GB RAM, GeForce 8200M, 15.6" 720p.

Most of the other specs are pretty equal.

Also, I can swap RAM chips around. Originally, the Gateway only had 1GB and the Compaq had 3GB.

Compaq Pros: Better screen, better keyboard, numpad.
Gateway Pros: Smaller, lighter, dual core, SD reader (which I use a lot.)

Dual core.

You know the real meaning of peace only if you have been through the war.

Thanks, guys. That's what I was thinking too. I just wish this damn keyboard didn't skip keys!
