Hey,
I was wondering if anyone knew whether OCZ DDR2-800 RAM is as good as Kingston DDR2-800? Also, does anyone know where I can get the best deal for 2GB DDR2-800 RAM?

Thanks

newegg is a good sight to buy computer parts from. THey have some good deals, and also they have reviews on how people like them. You decide.

Do you need PC2-6400 (DDR2-800)? If you don't plan on overclocking, it's probably not necessary. But since you didn't say what board/CPU you're running, it's hard to say.

For instance, a Core 2 Duo with an effective FSB of 1066MHz (266MHz actual) only needs PC2-5400 (DDR2-533), but many people get DDR2-667 or DDR2-800 so that they can overclock. If DDR2-800 is run with a non-overclocked 1066FSB CPU, it should be underclocked to DDR2-533 speed anyway...the only advantage to doing this *might* be the ability to tighten up the RAM timings at the slower speed.

Look for RAM with tight timings such as 3-3-3-8 or 4-4-4-12 rather than the slower 5-5-5-15. The lower the CAS (1st number), the faster the RAM, but it's usually more expensive.

Well, I'm planning on building my own PC with the following specs:

-Case: Antec Quiet P180
-Motherboard: eVGA nForce 680i SLI
-Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.40 GHz, FSB1066, 4 MB L2)
-RAM: 2GB DDR2-800 (2 x 1GB)
-Hard Drive: Raptor SATA 10,000RPM 150GB
-Video Card: XFX GeForce 7950GT 512MB
-DVD player (Sony Blu-Ray RW)
-Floppy Drive
-Cooling: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
-OS: Vista Business

I was wondering if you could suggest RAM for this specification? Also, I would like to overclock my CPU, motherboard, RAM and video card.

The RAM I've been looking at is the Kingston Hyperx DDR2-800 2GB (2x1024) but its a bit pricey. I found the OCZ DDR2-800 at http://www.beachaudio.com/product_i... for $134 and I was wondering if it was any good?

Thanks
