Help

my laptop has gone completly screwed up since i reinstalled windows. ACPI doesn't allow you to change different irq's, as there are no settings in bios. My computer also keeps crashing - and has no sound.. it would be really appreciated if somebody could rescue the situation.. at the moment it seems hopeless! Thanks

Go find the support pages, if they exist, and look up the specs for your model, such as video, sound, modem.

Remove any PCMCIA cards

Download the proper drivers

go into device manager and "remove" all extra hardware, such as sound modem, etc.

Reinstall the drivers

Hi, Usually if you have Plug and Pray OS set to on in BIOS Setup, Windoze will take care of IRQs. Luck, Jim

What was happening that caused you to reinstall XP in the 1st place?

Most notebooks need special programs to make all the utilites work. Go to the website of your manufacturer and download the files you need.
