I have just purchased a Canon 3200F scanner BUT I am having major problems installing it. I have just recently got a new PC upgrading from win98 to winxp. I had a Mustek1200 ub scanner with my old system but could not get it to work with XP as I thought the scanner was too old (maybe not now !!) so I purchased the Canon.
Anyway I have installed all the software for the new scanner , rebooted & connected it to spare USB port. It finds the ‘new hardware’ no problem BUT when I try to use the software it comes up ‘twain error’. I try to select a source within the progarm & there is nothing there ie my scanner (the same thing happens in picture-it express)
Within device manager, under imaging devices, it states scanner & that drivers etc are OK. Also within control panel, scanner folder – the scanner is there & I can even do a test & the scanner works !!
Can anyone help as this is driving me crazy?
Thanks in advance
Saint

Have you tried going accessories and using the scanner and camera wizzard? Or going to the manufacturers website and seeing if they have an updated driver for xp. Lastly, check driverguide.com and see if they have a patch.
Running at 66Mhz in a 400Mhz world.

Did you follow istallation instructions to the letter? For example, for some devices you must install the software, THEN connect the device, or visa versa, or you may to reboot more than once, etc. If you got it wrong, you may need to uninstall the software, remove the scanner connection physically and remove its entries in Device Manager, re-install.
Did you have a minimum of programs running when you installed the software, or did you do like most people do nowadays and just install? If you didn't, some program may have interferred with the install.
See here for suggestiond how to do that using MsConfig, keepng in mind that anti-virus programs are frequent culprits:
