Specs: Windows Vista, intel quad core somthing, and 4 gigs
I just bought a seagate one terabyte and installed it yesterday with no issues. First boot up and I could see my new drive ready to go. After the upgrade I re-installed my copy of vista 64bit and everything seamed to go great. I immediately downloaded virus protection and then started patching windows. Once I finished for the night I shut her down properly and went to sleep. This morning when I booted her up the bios could not find the drive. SOOOO then i took her apart again and checked connections. While I continued to reboot after every reconnection I noticed a very faint beep coming from the actual hard drive. IS THIS DRIVE SHOT?? I really hope i didnt wast my whole day yesterday with that piece of crap. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Very possible. Try switching the power and signal cables on the drive to different ones and see if that helps. See if the drive shows up in your BIOS and while you are in there check your voltages. Each of the voltages needs to be withing 10% so that the 12Volt can be + or - 10% or 10.8V to 13.2V, etc.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
