I really wanna clean my computer, especially the heatsink/fan on the CPU, its got like 2 mm of dust stuck onto it. How can i take the Heatsink/fan off its like a generic model its got two levers on both sides. I unclipped them once but couldnt pull anything off.

hi .. you can clean your cpu fan .. and its very good step and guess you will observe decrese in the noise it used to make ... all what you have to do to take the iron thing that hold its by uncliping it from both sides ... and its wierd to say that , this way didn't work ... but you can still take the case out of the room , and hit it with the air of your hair dryer ... that will also help good ...

I believe the levers are for removing the processor and the reason it would not come off easily is because of the thermal paste thats applied .The best thing would to look for an online manual for your M.B. My fan screws onto the M.B.or heatsink via four screws in each corner ! Iam not sure if the heatsink is just glued on or not ? Be careful not to damage your processor ! You will need some new thermal paste if you take it off. I use a can of compressed air and vacum lightly over the fan/heatsink ! You can do a google search on installing a heat sink and fan ,to get more of a feel for how they are installed. Good Luck Nick
