help charging battery

I just got an Acer netbook. How do I charge the battery? This thing came with almost no instructions. It came with a 6 cell battery and an AC power adaptor. This is my first laptop and it is probaly a stupid question. I don't see anything to charge the battery with.

When you plug the ac adapter in it runs the computer and can charge the battery at the same time. If turned off it just charges the battery. Turn the laptop off....plug in the apapter....do you see a small light on the laptop???? if so then it's charging.

The light is orange when charging and green when fully charged.
