Got a 56K modem for this machine recently but its performance is terrible. Sites take forever to load and it's always disconnecting. It's a Kobian HPI56A type, I wondered what could the possible problems be?

Have you got all the settings right? Might be a good idea to call your ISP's helpdesk.

Hi, the settings should be alright. I have checked and they seem fine. We used to have an AMR (or CNR not sure which) modem in the machine with the old mother board that worked fine, but this PCI one has not worked properly since I got it. Could it be wrong drivers?

Possibly. It could be that you need to find an updated driver.
www.driverguide.com is a good place to look for the right one.

Hi,
was able to find a new driver (from 2003) which seems to be working much better! Juts out of interest, there's a new option in the modem properties, "Quick Connect" - at the risk of sounding stupid what does this actually do?
Cheers
