I am new here and I have a few questions for you all.
I have a gt5476e pc I bought this year and I'm gonna upgrade some stuff so here we go.
Can I re-use this case when adding a new mobo, psu, and gpu or do I need a new one.
When I swap out the mobo will I lose my OS?I need help I am new here.I would greatly appreciate some help since I can't find everything on google.

Why are you upgrading the motherboard? Is there something wrong with the PCI Express ×16 expansion slot on the it?
You should be able to just add a discrete video card to the machine, although (depending on the card) that could very well mean a new PSU.

"When I swap out the mobo will I lose my OS?"
You won't lose it exactly, but it will no longer function & you won't be able to reinstall or repair Vista using the Gateway CDs.
Make it easy on yourself...just buy a new video card. This article should help you to make your choice:

ok well then if I can keep the mobo what do you reccommend for ram?I am sure it's nothing good like crucial, ocz.
What PSU would you reccomend?
Thats sweet I can keep the mobo, more money left over for me.
Just reccommend me a PSU,Ram,and GPU
Do you think the 5000+ will do gaming or should I throw in a 6400+?My cpu is 2.6 the 6400 is 3.2I need help I am new here.I would greatly appreciate some help since I can't find everything on google.

Why do you need RAM? You list that you have 2GB...how much more do you want? And the X2 5000+ is fine, save your money.

I think you just need a graphics card.
If you have extra money left over that's burning a hole in your pocket, maybe a sound card and some nice speakers?

what power supply do you recommend me geting?and also what video card?
My power supply is only 300 watts so I know I need bigger but how big is the question.
What video card is giving the best bang for the buck.I need help I am new here.I would greatly appreciate some help since I can't find everything on google.

"My power supply is only 300 watts so I know I need bigger"
Probably, but not necessarily. It depends on the quality of the PSU & which video card you decide on. Post the PSU specs...there should be a make/model, plus the amperage ratings for the +3.3v, +5v & +12v. If the specs are woefully inadequate, someone will make a recommendation.

That question *should* be answered by reading the link in response # 2

sounds like your not wanting to upgrade but buy a new pc!
put a graphics card in and if the psu cant cope get a new one. thats it. there all standard bits so they will fit. but a mobo! no no only change that if its gone bang.
otherwise use and abuse for 8 years and buy or build a new pcall text needs typos. There there for the reader to find,to distract them from the total lack of content.
google it! wasnt the answer to the question i asked so dont be dense and give me that repl

thanks you guys I appreciate the help.
I was unsure of alot of things since I am new to pc gaming.
I was thinking of getting an evga 8800gt gpu so I figured I would need a psu alsoI need help I am new here.I would greatly appreciate some help since I can't find everything on google.

you'll need a psu.The one you have is only 350 watt and thats not gonna be enough.
Go with 600watt.
I doubt if you can do a new mobo in that case since the mounting is normally different on store bought pc's.
Like the others have said tho why not just throw a gpu in it see how the psu does,if it need upgraded install a new one.
I have the same cpu as you it is good.I bet you haven't even played any of the classic pc games.I'd rather have a home built then a store built poop machine
