YOu evidently need to remove the HSink. Look at the pad. If it is all mented down flat then you need to completely clean it off and apply a new pad or thermal paste. You can buy paste at many different stores.
what u mean mented down flat i dont get u when i removed for few second i noticed some silver stuff on the thermal thats all i know anyways i will check the temperature if its normal then i dont need thermal paste if it will go higher then its mean the heatsink is not working properly and i need thermal paste what is the different between thermal paste amd thermal pad??
The more you try, the worse you're making things. Take the HSF off & see what the heck is happening.
"what is the different between thermal paste amd thermal pad??"
A pad is generally pre-installed on the bottom of the heatsink. It's perfectly flat & usually square in shape.
Paste comes in a tube or a small packet & MUST be applied (& applied correctly) to the top of the CPU before the HSF is installed.
Why did you get a quad-core in the 1st place? We discussed this a couple of weeks ago in the CPU forum & you said that you changed your mind & were gonna get the E6600 instead?
whats that q6600 go for about $250.00. I wish I could spend that on my "hobby". I'm posting from a compaq PIII, my neighbor threw out. I installed ubuntu 6, just finished downloading version 7, can't wait to install it. This dog had a PIII 800 but I installed a 1000, I also found in the trash. I struugled for the last 2 weeks whether to spent $25.00 on a board for a 1.8 duron I pulled out of the trash.
If you watch an installation video from Intel, it says that you should push down on the center of the heatsink(not too hard, though) to keep the pins you already pushed down on from disengaging. Don't feel too bad-I did something similar to you a few weeks ago. i wasn't used to these news HSfs with the push pins. I ended up getting a HSF that screws into a backplate below the mobo. It was much easier to install.
yea i got q6600 not that dual core coz quad core is future proof thanx u still have that discussion in mind lol i cant fix this heatsink so i will buy different one with screw not pins i believe that will come with paste not thermal pad thermal pad is better or paste?
screw fans r more pain like zalman fans i need to join several parts in order to make the fan and heatsink work properly im going to the computer shop i cant take this anymore bye
