Hi, now that it's the summer, and it's getting hot outside, I've noticed a constant problem with my computer: it makes the room it's in very hot. I have a powerful PSU and a nVidia 8600GT graphics card on it for gaming. When I use the computer for a few hours, my room becomes very hot. What can I do to control the heat it creates?

It would help if you'd post the temp readings (CPU & system) along with your room temp. I don't know what a "powerful PSU and a nVidia 8600GT graphics card" have to do with it? All PSUs & video cards produce heat, but your CPU is most likely than main culprit.

I don't think you can really control the heat, the only way is to cool the room down, because the computer uses cool air to cool itself down as it continually generates heat. If you upgrade to a new Core 2 CPU, it generates less heat than the old Pentium 4-class CPUs. A "powerful PSU" will also be generating a lot of heat, too.

Get a window air conditioner.
