HDD Regenerator identifies bad sect

Specs: Windows XP
My external 500 Giga My Book HD died. I tried to recover it using HDD Regenerator and the program managed to repair the disk sector by sector. Still, the process is vvvveeeeerrrrrryyyyy ssssssssllllllloooooowwww. Since I couldn't allocate my main pc for this task, I connected the drive to another pc. Here' the program behaved in a different fashion. It identifies bad sectors but doesn't even try to repair them.
What's wrong? Why did the task ran successfully on one system and fails to do the same on another. (Both pc's, by the way run the same OS, WinXP Pro (SP3), but since the run is implemented on the DOS level, this fact doesn't seem to be relevant.

I think you probably should be asking the HDD Regenerator people.
