This morming I turned on my laptop and got a message Operating System not found. It is under warrenty so I called it in to get it set up for repair. But tonight I turned it back on to see if I can work with it and maybe get it booted up. I get a message Enter HDD user password. I had this problem before and the drive was bad. Is this a known issue on Acer's? It's funny that it would just happen again like this.
I have seen the post below and also a link in that past. I have tried to test the drive with GWSCAN from Gateway it works on any drive and I get a disk locked error. Also I tried the Acer recovery disk and get a restore failer.

You can't do a restore if the HDD is bad. It's under warranty, make it their problem.

I figured I would just try. It was not asking for a password until lastnight. I know I can't do a restore now. Like I said before I had the same problem before and when they put the cover on the drive they stripped the screw out. There going to have fun getting the screw out.

I tried disk scan ETC before when it did the same and got a bunch of errors. And it will not even boot into windows to do a defrag that would not even fix it anyway. It is a Hard Drive password not Windows password. This video below is from before.

Well virus or not it was sent in for repair. Last time it did that they fixed it and would not have fixed it if it was a virus. They said acer computers to do that when a drive goese bad. Most laptops already have the feature that will lock a drive. I dought it was a virus because I am pretty secure. I have AV installed plus a good router.

Well yeah a good AV is a great strategy of defense but still are you sure you didn't miss on updating it? Also do you know how to keep your Registry clean? Well I don't know how but still I use a registry cleaner for my computer. I would also like to know what is your AV's brand.

My AV brand is AVG the paid version and yes it was updated. And I just contacted the repair center and they said the drive was bad and it was replaced.
