HDD Not showing up in Windows 8

March 26, 2013 at 11:25:39
Specs: Windows 8, A8-5600K / 16GB RAM

I have 2 HDD's in my PC, a WD 3.0TB and a Seagate 2TB. the WD 3TB Drive is not showing in Windows 8. I can see it in BIOS, but in Windows it is not showing up. What might be the problem?? It is brand new, and I PACKED it with Data, and I DO NOT want to lose it all. Can someone guide me? It was hooked up in a MyBook Essentials housing before, but the USB 3.0 connector on the back was sooo loose I just took it out and connected it straight to my pc.

Go into Disk Management & assign it a drive letter.

It shows as Disk 0 in Disk Management and asks to Initialize. If I do will I lose all my Data? However, If I just plug the little circuit board from the MyBook Essential hardware and just hook it up that way it recognizes. Am I going to have to hook it up via the board and USB 3.0 cable and COPY everything onto the main drive and then put it ack into the PC and initialize and format it?? Because copying 1.8TB of data is going to take like 8 Hours....
