HDD no longer recognized by Linux & Win 8.1 reinstallation

April 28, 2015 at 05:41:56
Specs: Linux

I tried to install mac on my PC in which windows 8.1 is already running.
Mac installation failed and when i tried to boot into windows 8.1 but it doesn't open. i tried to reinstall it but it says that it cannot recognize any hardrive.
I cannot blame on hard drive connectivity as i can see my disk when i opened disk utility during mac installation.
I have 1 terabyte hard drive. In disk utility i found disk 01 disk 02 and disk 03 under terabyte harddisk. I tried and failed installing mac on disk03.
I dont think i partitioned my harddisk but still it showed 3 disks.if i have installed 2 os in 1 hardrive. How can i access windows 8.1? I also tried to format disk03 where mac installtion happend but still windows dont turn on.. please help

Can you see it in the bios?

See if you can sort it out with this.

Some pholks will describe a method to install Mac OS on a standar PC intended for windows OS... But generally even if it does go in, it's seldom all it might be. Frequently it fails too, as you have discovered...

Lokely your failed Mac installation screwed up the mbr... so windows/linux won't boot.

See if the links Johnw points to resolve it...

"I did as u said.but im confused how to use this lazesoft"
You need to read the help files ricky95 & if needed get someone with higher skills to help.

There are other programs we can get for you, but they also will need skill to negotiate all the in's & out's.

That's better, now I can understand what is happening with Lazesoft.

Back to my earlier question, can you see it in the bios?

Here is a possible way around your problem.

1: Take the hard drive out & slave it to another comp.

2: Save all your important stuff onto that comp or some other media.

3: Follow these instructions.

"but i think its not what we are looking for"
Your right, it is only finding the thumb drive & a boot partition.
Your hard drive is 1TB.

Looks like taking the drive out, is now the next best option.

"so.i have to take my hardrive out. connect it to different pc"
Just to make sure you have that clear.

You slave it to another comp, in other words that comp ( assuming it only has 1 hard drive ) will have now have 2 hard drives connected to it.

Just to make sure you have really got it..

No need to bolt the drive in, all my computers have a second hard drive attached for backup. Just cable the drive & rest it outside the case.

What computer will you be attaching the hard drive to.
A comp with Windows installed?
