I recently upgraded my video card so that I could get the most out of adobe cs3. I want to buy a monitor or an hdtv that I can use for a monitor and tv. Which is the best option? I have heard people say that HDTVs work good. I am in college so I do have somewhat of a budget. I'm looking to spend $400 or less. Which ever you think is better please recommend a brand and model for me. Thanks

It depends how much you watch TV. I never watch it, so buying a HDTV just for my PC wouldn't be worth it to me. I would just buy a really good monitor with the $400.

$400 or less is severly limiting your choices for a HDTV with monitor capabilities.
You may need to spend more.Search for LCD TVs, then look to see what it's max HDTV spec is (720p or 1080i), and what inputs it has for use as a monitor. Your video card must have a HDMI output port for the best results - only recent ones do - otherwise you use the monitor output port on the card and the HDTV should have a VGA in port - 15 "pin" D-sub. Using component HD TV in or regular TV in jacks (RCA jack(s) or a Svideo port for regular TV) requires your card supports TV out and you use that BUT the monitor display will be inferior compared to if you use a HDMI port or VGA port.
E.g.
Sceptre - have had a good reputation for econo computer monitors
