Hi,
i got a ide 300 gig hd. Keeps giving me write errors. Normaly can play one video file fine, but if you pause it, it gives errors or if youtry to play a new one when its done. I have to restart the comuter everytime this happens. Is it mosltlikey a bad drive or is there some setting i have wrongly set? I have it on the secondary ide chanel set to cable select on an 80 pin cable.
thanks,
Cody

Get the diags from the hard drive mfg. or get generic like the IBM drive tests.

In some odd cases it could be that if the drive has a cache and you set the system for a cache they can conflict. I think it was some scsi drives that were doing that on xp.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Your cable may be 80 wire but I bet it's 40 pin.

If your HDD passes the diagnostics, consider a connection problem or a chipset driver problem.
