Hardware Resource Conflict

I got another board, FIC VB-601. This one can support hard drives such large, and can support a larger RAM...

However, I was caught in a resource conflict trouble. When I check the PCI Device Listing, I found a Serial Bus controller uses the IRQ10, which is supposed to be used by my Sound Blaster 16 (CT2290), and that caused my sound card to use IRQ9, which is used by an ACPI controller. After installed Windows 98, the sound will not play properly in IRQ9.

EDIT: The problem seemed to be solved, and no conflict detected... It used to conflict with IRQ9, but now since it conflicts with IRQ7, no conflicts happen now, but I'm afraid if the system may not be very stable. Also, there's no way to make the BIOS automatically assign IRQ10 to the sound card.

Check the BIOS...do you have "plug & play OS" set to yes or no?

It may be easier to format and do a fresh install. Before install move the network card to another slot (or remove it while you do the install and add later) as PCI slots have different IRQ's. ISA slots don't matter.

Assuming you have the VB-601 and not the VB-601-v, download the intel chipset drivers:

(probably the third one) and install immediately after the OS.

Do a google search for SBW9XUP.EXE and download and run it.

The 'Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)' means the video drivers aren't installed. It's possible the video IRQ problem will be solved once you install its drivers. AGP support from the chipset drivers may also fix it.
