Reply: (edit)Check to see if the activity wire is plugged onto the correct pins on the motherboard or not plugged backwards. Other than that you may have a malfunctioning part in the drive even though it may run ok.

Reply: (edit)I've run a virus check and there's nothing there. It's quite a new set up, put it together myself about 2 months ago. I'm sure it worked fine at first but I've only recently notices it's always on. Buster65's comment about a malfuntioning drive is very worrying. I recently added a Seaget Hornet Travan tape drive, suppose that could be it. I've put loads of progs on so it's impossible for me to know if it's one of them without starting from scratch. Is there any harm in having the light on all the time? I'm concerned that the drive is doing something all the time like churning away. I'll check to see if the wires are right into the motherboard (easier said than done after I filled my PC with this Quiet PC Snooze Kit s***!!!). Cheers! Dan
