OK so I have figured part of the dilema I have been posting about. I have a C drive installed as master and D drive as slave, the D drive is not in use, I want to make the D drive my primary which I think i know how to do but after i take out the C rive and switch the jumpers how do I get all the info from c onto D.

You can't do it in Windows because with windows running some major system files are protected so you can't copy them.
Most harddrive manufacturers offer free programs to do the job but you have to boot into dos with a bootdisk (www.bootdisk.com).

It's also possible that the program from the harddrive manufacturer builds it's own bootdisk!

BTW:
It maybe better when you copy before changing the drives. That way you still have access to the running system until you did it right!

well yeah if all you have to do is copy data then you are ok, if you have to copy the whole thing then you will need to re-install all programs (including os) and then copy the data over. or you can use a program that will do this for you as mentioned above, hope this helps

You can copy the whole C: drive over to D: using xcopy32 under windows.
I use the following command:
xcopy32 c: d: /c /h /e /r /k /q
It will fail on the swap file but it doesn't matter.

After you physically swap the drives you need to boot from a floppy, run fdisk and make the c: primary partition active so it will be bootable.
