Comment:

I need to transfer files from a PC (Dell) to a laptop (Acer)and the PC's processor is broken.

Is it possible to take the hard-drive out of the PC and connect it to my laptop? Do I need any wires? What's the best way to do this?

You can get a cheap USB to IDE/SATA adapter cable.

You can see an IDE example here:

It would probably be easier to connect the hard disk from your broken pc as a slave in a working pc.

Then copy the required files to memory stick for transfer to the laptop.

Advise back what you decide.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
