One is not reognised by any BIOS at all..Any ideas?

The second on Has a faulty Win 98. It reads in the PC but does not read as a slave..Windows does not recognise the HD. I tried installing XP but it sees it as FAT32 but when I try to install it says Windows Does not recognise the Partition..I have some vital Data I dont want to loose..I need help..Partition Magic 8 sees it as type 44 and cant do anything about it.

FDISk sees it as 4000mb..
When I try ionstalling WIn98 it tells my it couldnt update system files because of some virus definition etc...

Please Help!

Don't pair up the 2 HDDs on the same cable/channel. Always use the master/slave jumpers...do NOT use the cable select setting. Use 80-wire cables for both channels.

If you have 3 devices:

primary master = HDD w/OS
primary slave = none
2ndary master = optical drive
2ndary slave = 2nd HDD

If you have 4 devices:

primary master = HDD w/OS
primary slave = optical drive
2ndary master = optical drive
2ndary slave = 2nd HDD
