I just hada new hard drive installed. I went to install my O/S, and the disk had to be formatted. However, an error messagw popped up that said the disk could not be formatted b/c "an error was detected while formatting your primmary hard drive partition." I think went into fdisk, and it wouldn't let me delete the partition I have (which is using 100% of my HD) because when I tried to enter the Volume Label, I couldn't, because there were some funky symbols at the end that I couldn't retype. HELP. (Thanks)

Thanks...but I'm not sure how to use it. Can I download either program on a floppy (from my desktop), and then use that floppy on my laptop?

Hi

If you visit the manufacturer website of
the new drive you just installed, you will
find a few utilities for your drive there.

Most of them will load onto a floppy.

These utilities are free [well its a sevice
provided via your purchase] From the
diagnostic utility you should be able to
run a low level format [zeroing the drive
thesedays] You could then chose to use
their setup program is you want as well.
