hard drive write protected

Specs: windows 8, dual core 2.13ghz/8gb
HI..ok i got a seagate pipeline 320gb hdd that i got out of a pvr/dvr machine and hooked up to an external enclosure.I can't format it or do anything with it..disk management see's it as unallocated space,right click it is all grayed out except for properties.i have tried diskpart..recovery console on windows disks..killdisk...easeUS..seagate tools...ubcd...bartpe..nothing can access it but all programs see it.i have tried putting in a pc..easeUS program says its write protected..so anyone have other ideas? i have also tried a linux live cd (not sure which 1)been at this since february!

It's been encrypted by the PVR/DVR, that's why you can't perform any operations on it. You could try using DBAN on it, but since DBAN runs outside of Windows you will need to install the drive internally. DBAN won't see it in an external enclosure:

Thanks for the reply,unfortunatly i do not have a pc anymore to put it in.i found 2 pvr/dvr in the trash..one had the 320gb and the other 1 a 500gb drive.The 500gb one formatted no problems.Both machines were the same just different hdd sizes.But thanks again for the reply...i might just trash the drive.
