Comment: Hey Guys, I have a 160 gb hard drive and I have already used about 60gbs of it, and I have another old laptop hard drive (40gb) that I would like to connect to my PC. I am going to go and buy the connector. But, could you guys tell me how to set it up as a slave so that my 160gb hard drive will be master and the laptop hard drive as a slave. Could you please tell me how to do it. Thanks... Lider

Reply: (edit)http://www.meritline.com/usb2-ieee1394-enclosure-hard-drive-external-2-5.html If you do not have a firewire port, you can even get a USB 2.0 enclosure for a lot less than that.

Reply: (edit)Not all laptop drives have an option to be set as slave - if there's no jumper visible, either on the end, next to the connector (Hitachi/IBM have these) or a very small jumper on the base (older style) then chances are it is set to master only (remember not many laptops have facilities for 2 drives) Check on the manufacturer's site for jumper config if the jumpers are there. Reply: (edit)if set as master, it could still be used on the secondary IDE socket/cable instead of the primary IDE/socket cable.
