Hard drive not found issue on computer

Specs: Windows XP
Having an issue where my computer doesn't boot up from the hard drive or from the XP install disc. It's a DELL XPS (Approx. 6 years old) with a SATA harddrive that I installed 1 to 2 years ago when the original drive died. It does show in the bios that it is there. Purchased a new harddrive. Same drive as before. Try to install Windows XP and get same message " Hard Drive not found". Any ideas would be apreciated.

Or you can slipstream the SATA drivers into the WinXP CD files and then burn a new CDR. That is easy to do by using nliteos. You can also slipstream the latest service pack as well. Get the SATA drivers from the Dell site.

Get nliteos at the link below. Get SP3 at the second link below.

" Hard Drive not found"

That's because you have a SATA HDD & XP doesn't natively support SATA.
