"i have done everything correctly but i still can't get it to see the new HDD"

If the drive isn't being recognized, then you did NOT do everything correctly. You need to explain what you're doing & what you've tried so far. Is this going to be the primary HDD with Windows installed on it? Is SATA enabled in the BIOS? Is the drive recognized in the BIOS but not in Windows? Has the drive been partitioned & formated?

Hi there, I want to thank you for responding to my post so quickly. now to answer your question. 1) The HDD is a new one and yes it will be the primary Drive with windows installed on it, 2) As for it being recognized in the Bios,i must say that that is something i did not know about and i think you should know that i am not a computer tech, i just have very very basic know how on fixing some problems i may have . What i did do was to install the drive and config the settings to boot from the cd drive, after which it did not see the drive and also when i tried to use a HDD that i have which is IDE and try to boot it said that i have a system error and i should insert the system disk and press enter which i did but that too also keep telling me that i have to insert the system disk
