Specs: Windows 7- 64bit
I built a new computer about a month ago with:
Phenom II x2 555 BE
4gb ddr2-800 RAM
2 250gb Hard Drives (1 IDE, 1 SATA) (both from previous PC)
EVGA gefore 8800 gts (from previous PC)
600W BFG power supply

The IDE drive, which is a 4 yr old Samsung SP2514N i was using for storage of movies, music and etc. I updated my bios to F10 (couple weeks old) i rebooted and everything was normal, but a few restarts later my Samsung is not being detected by the Bios or windows anymore... i keep rebooting and resetting the bios and it seems to come and go....now it does not show up anymore.

I have replaced the IDE cable, made sure its getting power (i can feel and hear it running like normal) the circuit board on it looks fine. i just dont understand what happened. I even reverted to the older bios and it did not fix it.

Is the hard drive dead or the motherboard damaged? I ordered a IDE to USB adapter yesterday...should be here next week

Try a new 80 wire IDE cable.
