So, I put my computer into hibernate and then brought it back out, and then turned it (the computer in general) back on, now the hard drive is busted. It cannot be detected in the BIOS. I hooked it up to a SATA > USB converter and it spins up, but is not detected. This is a Seagate 7200.11. What else can I try to see if it can be detected? Darn it, I had confidence in Seagate, too, but their *.11 series is looking bleh.

Seatools cannot detect the drive; it just sits there trying to look for devices.

Then, no doubt about it, the hard drive is definitely dead.

if it is still hooked up, via the usb, you might try hooking it back up internally to a different sata connector, likely won't make a difference but I would try.
