Hard drive not being reconized

I installed my 60gb hard drive but when i go into bios it says slave hard drive 0... what or how do you set the jumpers or does bios automatically does everything... thanks for replying... timalan

If this is your only hard drive. It should be in the primary cable on the end. The jumpers should be set to cable select. You can do this by looking on the back of the hard drive there should be a chart with all the jumper positions. If this is a second hard drive put it on the primary cable in the middle connector and set the jumper to either slave or cable selct.

Thanks TheRuben for replying... well lastnight when trying to hookup my 60gb hd something happen cos when it was booting up it all the sudden shut down and i had no power... i went to compusa today and bought a 250w power supply and now it works again.... the hard drive probably still works... i don't understand what happen... i got this hard drive too have a second hard drive... i looked on hard drive and it says about slave or spare and it says master on the first 2 jumpers... but when i set it up i don't get anything in bios... i have my first hard drive and my second one says 0 so i don't know whatelse to do... thanks again theruben for replying... take care and have a great weekend... timalan
