Hi i just recently had this problem with my computer not detecting my hard drive. Yesterday my cousin inserted another drive using the master ide slate. I told him not too but he did anyways. Once we took it out i plugged back my hard drive (SATA 500gb hard drive) and i'm sure all the cables are in correctly but the bios does not detect my hard drive. I had this problem when i first started the computer for the first time. I played with it and somehow it detected the hard drive. But the problem is i din't know what i did. Thanks in advance for all advice and help

The boot order in the BIOS is probably set wrong. Boot to the BIOS screens using the del key at startup. Page 31 of your manual shows how to enable the SATA ports. Be sure any posrt in use are enabled.

Check the power plug for the drive for a spread connector(s). Try another plug if you have a spare.

All of the detection is automatic. The boot order is cd , hd , cd.
There is no spread connector that goes into the hard drive only the sata red cable that goes into the hard drive then that goes into the motherboard. thanks for the response.

"only the sata red cable that goes into the hard drive then that goes into the motherboard."

Don't you have another cable going from the power supply to the hard drive?

nope. There is no need for power when using a sata because it provides both, hence why a lot of companies are switching over to sata. Its a lot less wiring :D. Still need to solve this problem >< i thank everyone that reads this and gives me advice

Your information an SATA drives is incorrect. SATA drives still require a POWER connector too.
I won't even try to explain why SATA drives are now the dominant type of drive in new systems.
