I was looking to install an additional hard drive on my computer i have a gateway so I picked up a western digital 80 gig internal drive but the problem i came across was that i do not have any additonal space available
for it to go in the computer after I opened it so the only other opptions that I came up with was go with an external hard drive which I dont want to do or can I replace my existing hard drive with the new on and then use my system recovery cd that ame with the computer do reboot it then just reload all my software is this possible? please help

get a new case! don't be a bum there cheap as chips now and you can get wicked cases with heaps of room. if you can't do that make your own slot underneath your bays you have

I have not tried it, but I'm told that if you install a bigger hard drive than what came with the system originally, then try to use the CD restore disk, it won't work. I am not speaking from experience though, I actually read it here on another post quite a while ago.

well if you have a a factory built pc then you might sol but if not then buy a case and you will be fine, at newegg.com you can get 350 watt psu and case with loads of room for 25 bucks

I converted my Gatway G6-450 PC into a Generic case, because the Gateway case was too big - lol. If I'd of known you could of had it as I gave it away.
You want to be careful here if you go down the new case route as a lot of newer cases don't have the holes drilled in the case for the screws that hold the CPU in place for the old Slot 1/2 type processors. As a result, my CPU is slotted in, but not screwed in like it was in the original Gateway tower.
Good luck.
James
