Hard Drive Enclosure Issues

Specs: Windows 7
One of my old computers melted down, so I got a hard drive enclosure and used the hard drive from that computer for several years on my new computer. I recently stopped working and I can't figure it out. Any help out there?

The drive is a Hitachi Deskstar 80g model # IC35L090AVV207-0. The enclosure is a "Port Authority2" (described here: http://reviews.cnet.com/storage-acc...

It was working fine on my primary XP machine at home, but when it stopped working I tried it on my laptop, which runs Vista, and my work computer - which is running Windows7. No luck on any of them. It is recognized as an "unknown device", but no drivers are available for it - it isn't even recognized as a disk drive.

I'm hoping someone has some sort of fix for this. I've got tons of documents on it - most are backed up but not all.

Take it out of the enclosure & try connecting it directly to the motherboard as a slave drive.
