my hd did the old crash and burn on me. My motherboard is an asus k8n capable of SATA. any recommendations on a hard drive. my last drive was only a 20g. and i didnt use but half of it. i dont need anything extravagant. price budget is less than 50. any certain brands i should stay away from?

Next thing you know, you have money missing from your dresser and your daughters knocked up! Ive seen it a hundrend times.

Here is an Seagate Barracuda SATA II hard drive 80gb, 8mb of cache, 7200rpm, for 45 bucks.

It's backwards compatible with SATA I.

Seagate imo are one of the best hard drive companies.

HDDs have always been the greatest bottleneck in modern computers, since you apparently don't hardly need any disk space - spend twice as much and get the fastest there is, then come back & thank us much later.
