Specs: Windows 7
The Hard drive has been corrupted so i took the hard drive out of the laptop and connected it to a computer running the same operating system and the computer recognizes it but the files on the hard drive are locked thereby not allowing me to copy them over to an external drive. anyone know how to unlock the files?

File permissions. It may or may not work, depending on security setting.

windows 7 will open the drive. If it says you need permission just click on OK and you can open the 2nd HD

Using permissions did not work either the computer just says access denied or that it cannot share that file. I do not understand why maybe its just an important part of that hard drive? All i am trying to do is get the files that were on that hard drive so I can run safe mode and restore it and hopefully that will fix it. Do you have any other ideas? one of my friends said to run a live cd but i do not know how that would work exactly.
