hi all this is a bit vauge but i have not yet actually sat down and looked at it. also its not my hard drive so again it will be a bit vauge.
my dad has a hard disk its a 80gb maxtor and i noticed the other day a noise from it that was a bit of a high pitch moise. bit like the disk was rubbing up against something constantly. but i heard it told him then dashed out the door for the pub. he just told me today in passing that the hard disk access light is constaly on. so i was wondering if any one has any ideas why.
it cant be virtual memory or fragmented hard drive becasue the os has been compleatly installed recently there is more than enough mem in it gig and half from what i rember and the os is fedora core 10 i think or 9. i aslo thing that the lights on constaly when its not under strain so any ideas?
